This poetry book, designed for listening and illustrating, contains vocabulary and expressions drawn from the lessons in the text Espaņol para los chiquitos, Spanish for Young Children.
The poems presented in each section are increasingly rich in vocabulary and meaning.
While children listen to the CD or the teacher's rendition of each poem, they should be encouraged to illustrate them. They may choose to inspire themselves in drawings on the page, or create originals from their own imaginations. .
Repeated listening, leading to memorization of verses, is an excellent way to learn sentence structure and pronunciation. Moreover, while enjoyment and memorization of poetry greatly aids the retention of lexicon and grammar, it also fosters appreciation of the metaphoric use of language.
An extensive glossary should help parents understand and enjoy the poems along with their little ones
