Teaching Children Spanish
Currently, the United States is home to the fifth largest population of Spanish speakers in the world. Not only has that number been steadily growing over the years, it has also expanded worldwide. In fact, Spanish is currently one of the top three spoken languages internationally--just slightly ahead of English. Additionally, Latin culture has become an integral part of the American lifestyle, from architecture to food and entertainment. With the language on the rise, a growing number of parents have realized the importance of teaching their children Spanish. Not only does learning the language provide them with an edge in this fast-evolving world, it also opens their minds to a new culture. Most importantly, studies have shown that children have a greater ability to retain a new language than adults. This means that the earlier they start, the better the chances they will become fluent. Nevertheless, no matter how a young child begins to take Spanish courses, it is important to provide them with a structured lesson plan. Spanish, like any other language, is more than the memorization of a few words. Pronunciation and grammar are just as important as vocabulary and learning a language effectively requires a multi-faceted approach.
