Teaching Spanish To Young Children
Teaching Spanish to young children is an extremely rewarding experience. Generally speaking, children are usually avid learners, capable of processing and retaining an enormous amount of information. To that end, their ability to learn a new language is far greater than that of adults--as long as a teacher is capable of maintaining their focus and attention. One of the problems faced by teachers today, is the lack of a Spanish course that parents can effectively help their children with at home. If a parent isn't fluent in the language, it's often difficult for them to support their child as they complete their homework. At All Bilingual Press, we have taken the challenge of creating such materials and succeeded with the release of our first level course Chicos Y Grandes (kids and adults). Based entirely upon our experience and actual testing in classrooms, Chicos Y Grandes provides a complete curriculum to be used in a classroom setting or at home. Even parents who do not speak Spanish will find our detailed lesson plan simple to use. In fact, although it is primarily designed to teach Spanish to young children, many adults have taken advantage of the course themselves. Divided into three sections, that include a workbook, an exercise manual and an audio CD, Chicos Y Grandes provides a complete approach to learning Spanish. Not limited to focusing on one specific skill, it covers the basics of reading, writing, speaking and listening--giving children a solid base from which to grow on. Most importantly, it gives parents the ability to work with their child and participate in their new language development.
