Why should you travel to Argentina with ABP?
The Argentinean experience will open doors for you to new ways of living. Although it is the most European-like country in Latin American, there are a lot of cultural differences.
You will live and study Buenos Aires, the most seductive and cosmopolitan Latin American city, often called the "Southern Paris” for its cultural life.
A typical day for students will include four hours of study of Spanish in an excellent language academy, starting at 9:30 AM. After lunch, students will be invited to experience unique aspects of the city and its culture. For example:
Try your first tango steps in the streets and restaurants of La Boca, the bohemian Italian neighborhood; or just watch the dancers demonstrating their skill and grace.
Observe the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo march, the Nobel Prize-winning group of women whose children and grandchildren were “disappeared” by the military in the seventies.
Visit Eva Peron’s tomb, the Art Museum, gardens and much more...and enjoy the French architecture of the impressive buildings, monuments and wide avenues.
In the evening, take tango lessons, or visit the great tiendas (stores) of leather articles, or shop till you drop in the many very inexpensive, by American standards, galerias of Palermo or Calle Florida.
Participate in community service activities organized by ABP and ASISTA!, by bringing a Spanish book for children at Pelota de Trapo, one of the many institutions dedicated to helping children of unemployed families.
Participate in lectures (in English or Spanish) on Argentine history, human rights, literature and social movements.
At night, the choices are innumerable. In a boliche (club), dance tango or just look at the dancers, and then go to dinner, or breakfast, at any time. Most restaurants never close.
Led by Argentineans associated with ABP, you will have the opportunity to go to places normally unknown to the average tourist.
On the weekend, optional excursions will be offered: one such is to magnificent Iguazu Falls, and another to the typical Argentinean rancho called “estancias”, where you can have a glimpse of the gaucho culture.
Argentina is the second largest country of Latin America, and for those who want to extend their visit, the instructor will help facilitate tours to the interior.
Those who visit Argentina always plan to come back. If you join us, your experience will be unforgettable.
